About PVGA
PVGA’s mission is to provide consumers with the freshest, highest-quality locally grown produce. As a grower-owned cooperative, we provide marketing and trucking services to farmers that allow them to focus on growing great produce while we focus on getting fresh and lightly processed vegetables and fruits to our customers across New England.
Started in 1978 by eight growers, PVGA began its first marketing season in 1981 with sales of $52,000. PVGA now has close to 20 members and an additional dozen farms who ship produce through the co-op. Most are located in the Connecticut River Valley of western Massachusetts, with some farms in Connecticut, New York, and Maine. Together, we offer a wide range of fresh and lightly processed seasonal produce. Our customers include supermarkets, food banks, independent retailers, farmstands, and food hubs and distributors.
PVGA’s General Manager, Bill Barrington, has been with the co-op since 1986. A board of directors elected by the members oversees the co-op.
